As much as we love to see giant cranes on our jobsites, we prefer to choose the right equipment for the right projects. As part of the major renovation project at The Nordelec, a million square foot historic building, the installation of a mini-spider crane directly on the roof of the building resulted in significant savings in street occupancy fees for our client while avoiding unnecessary blockage of public space.

In fact, the addition of a new elevator shaft inside the building's courtyard required the use of imposing heavy machinery, and so, for several weeks. Our on-site team came up with the idea of replacing the use of a traditional crane anchored in the street with a spider crane installed on the existing infrastructure.

This solution, which resulted in major savings for the client, was greatly appreciated by the occupants of the building, who did not had to deal with road closures and traffic near their homes or workplaces.
